I just got back from seeing Knight and Day. Yahoo is talking about how Cruise has bombed, that it's his worst action flick opening in 20 years...well...screw them!
It's a good movie. I enjoyed the hell out of it. The pacing was phenomenal. Did not wonder about what time it was in Real Life, I was too busy watching this movie. No f***ing shaky cam - that I noticed. There was a scene at the end of the movie where Cruise and Diaz got mixed up in the running of the bulls...great, great scene!
Cameron Diaz's character come across as a little ditzy, probably normal for her ( I haven't seen too many of her films) but it's not annoying. She just a person who was pulled into something that is beyond her comprehension. Certainly she's out of her element. But, while she does have freak out moments, she sucks it up and does what she has to do...and if means riding the rollercoaster...she does it.
Tom Cruise's character, like many of his others, is charming, cute, funny and endearing. And possibly quite crazy. But, he pulls his character off well. Again, I wasn't annoyed with his acting. In the past, I have been irritated by the character he's playing, but this time I was not.
FYI - you don't have to sit all the way through the credits. There is a small scene but there are no surprises at the very end. I guess I'm spoiled and I like those last little scenes, oh well.
As for why the movie didn't have the best opening...well, it could be some lingering backlash against Cruise's couch jumping episode on Oprah. Or, it could be the fact that school has just let out and parents are taking their kids to see kids' movies first and then have Parent Date Night later.
Regardless, I enjoyed this movie and I will be getting it on DVD!

Deadliest Catch
I am a fan of the TV series The Deadliest Catch. And I watched the most recent episode this morning.
Poor Jake Anderson of the Northwestern. We found out that he'd been hiding the fact from the rest of the crew that his dad was missing and had been missing for some time. Capt. Sig got a call from Jake's mom that his dad's truck had been found but not his dad. And from what Capt. Sig said, there were a few other things that she told him. And he wasn't going to say anything to Jake.
I looked up on the internet about Jake's dad and he is still missing but the search was called off a long time ago. Obviously, it doesn't look good. And his dad's truck was found off an old logging road...so it may be a long, long time before Mr. Anderson is found, if ever.

This and That
Well, the California Primary elections are over. The candidates that I really wanted to win, won. For the most part I did not vote for incumbents. I did vote for the man who is currently Sheriff and there were a few people where it was "Vote for..." a certain number and there were incumbents in those groups. Although, I could have only vote for 2 or 3 or however many but, I'm anal. If it says vote for 6, I'm going to vote for 6.
I am expecting this to be one of the nastier California elections. Especially between Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown as well as Carly Fiorina and Barbara Boxer. I really, really hope that Meg and Carly win. But I'm not looking forward to the bombardment of commercials - both negative and positive. Nor am I looking forward to all of the calls that I expect will be coming.
Although, I have enjoyed some of the "person to person" polling calls. You know, the ones where someone asks you a series of questions and wants to know if you "strongly agree" "somewhat agree" "somewhat disagree" "strongly disagree" or "no opinion." The best one was one where the lady asked if I was planning to vote and I asked her if she had a section for "HELL YEAH!" She laughed for a long time on that one.

He did it!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100608/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/lt_peru_van_der_sloot
I am not surprised.
I am surprised about the reason why he did it though. He did it because she looked him up. She Googled him.
That poor, poor girl. But this does sound like what this shrink said on Fox News yesterday. That he's a psychopath. And psychopaths don't think about what they do. That it's impulsive...if I remember correctly.
Now, if only the Peruvians can get him to say what he did with Natalee.
I really do think that Stephany Flores is NOT his first victim. And probably Natalee isn't his first victim either.
http://news.yahoo.com/video/world-15749633/who-is-joran-van-der-sloot-20223319
This piece of sh** says that the fact that Natalee's parents going to his house, screaming and yelling about her location wasn't what normal parents do. Oh really?! BULLSHIT! Yes, parents are going to be screaming and yelling at the person who last saw her alive.
He's not normal in the head at all.

Sailor Moon Fanfiction
I am a huge fan of Sailor Moon which was written by Naoko Takeuchi. I'm sure that there are many who are much better fans, but I do like the manga and the series.
I have many of the art books and have collected most of the same prints from those on my Photobucket Account. One thing that I have been doing is finding fanart on Deviant Art. Let me tell you, there are some really, really talented artists out there. I can't draw worth a damn, but I can appreciate people who can. Of course, for every talented artist...there are several that make you go "Seriously? You think this is good?!" Of course, I'm sure what I think is good, others would probably question my sanity.

This is one that I found recently. I think that it's a pretty interpretation.
I also happen to enjoy Sailor Moon fanfiction. My favorite writer is called The Yarnspinner. He and his wife have a website called Strands of Moonlight. There are several stories of his that I like but my favorite is his epic called "That Special Magic." It's an alternate reality but it's still good. The only problem is that the story is unfinished and he hasn't written a new chapter in over 3 years. Darn him!
But, the fanfiction website that I read the most is dotmoon. It does a variety of stories, not just Sailor Moon. There are a lot of authors that I like but some of the stories that are my favorites are:
The Aftermath of Bachlor Parties - Mamoru and Motoki contemplating their situation and what to do about it after Mamoru's Bachelor Party.
Stiletto Boy and the Blonde Problem - Yaten is caught doing something that the paparazzi would just LOVE to get photos of!
A Villain's Night Out - Sailor Moon comes across Nephrite who is a bit...under the weather.
There are several others, but would probably take too long to list. I like dotmoon. They list new stories every Sunday (for the most part). And they're easy to find and to be able to tell which are completed stories or not.

Gaiaonline
I am a fan of Gaiaonline. It's a community website. Lots of things to do, you can buy things with virtual or real money to dress up your avatar or "house."
You can also play games of various sorts on there. There is blackjack, puzzles for example and a game called ZOMG! It's a shooter type game. I've tried it a couple of times but I'm not good at video games of that sort so I end up getting frustrated and quitting.
There are also forums where you can talk about absolutly nothing or specfic things. Oh, and you get Gaia "gold" for doing many of the things that I've listed so far.
I spend most of my time in the Marketplace. It's were you can sell items and buy items from other people. I buy a lot of items but I do it to earn more gold. You can sell items back to Gaia for half of their original value. Needless to say, I try to buy under that half and get more back.
It's fun, although Gaia has moved an awful lot of Cash Items. And by Cash, I mean Real World money. There have been complaints, but people buy the items - including myself, I'm afraid - so I don't think Gaia is going to quit doing that anytime soon.
Anyhoo, I like doing it. I have 3 accounts in fact. I've heard of people who have more, but I have no idea how they could work with more than three. Three are plenty.

I voted today
We have early voting in my city. I don't know about the rest of California, but we do here. Which is nice because I don't have to wait until election day to get it over with.
There were certain people that I really wanted to vote for: Meg Whitman for Gov., Carly Fiorina (sp?) for US Senate, Steve Cooley for Attorney General, and locally, Judge Zellerbach for District Attorney. Other than that, I really didn't care who I voted for.
The one thing that I did try to do was NOT vote for an incumbant...if I could avoid it. Over the next few years, I'm planning on doing my part to vote the scoundrels out!
******
As a bit of a follow-up to yesterday's blog, Chilean police have arrested Joran van der Sloot.
YAY!!!!!
Now they are just waiting for what the Peru gov't wants them to do with him. Obviously, send him back. The murdered girl's father has vowed that his daughter's murderer will not get away with it. I'm going to guess that the little bastard is going to regret not admitting that he killed Natalee. I'm sure Peruvian prisons are not nice places. At all.
And the really great thing is, Joran's daddy ain't going to get him out of it this time. You see, Joran's dad was a Judge in Aruba. Yeah, that's probably why there wasn't enough evidence coughcoughcough to prove that Joran killed Natalee. But, 1) Joran ain't in Aruba and 2) Daddy's dead.
I really wonder how many other women Joran has murdered in the last 5 years.

He's done it again...allegedly
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/lt_peru_van_der_sloot
Wow! And 5 years to the day that Natalee disappeared.
So, do I think he's killed again. Yes.
He and Stephany go to his room, several hours later he leaves...alone. And she is found dead in the room a few days later. Probably because she was decomposing and people began to smell her. Poor thing.
And, he's left the country (Peru) and no one knows where he is at the moment.
Will he be caught? I certainly hope so. And I hope that he is convicted of murder. I haven't heard anything about Peruvian jails...but I'm sure that they are not as comfortable as the ones here in the United States.
And, if he's in jail...he won't be able to kill someone else's daughter.
